Richard Goldman

Richard Goldman serves as an independent member of the Boards of Directors or Governance Boards of investment funds and related structures. He is currently an independent director at Calderwood, a fund governance and compliance firm in the Cayman Islands.
Biography

Prior to joining Calderwood in 2026, Rich practiced law in the U.S. for almost 40 years, advising private fund clients on a broad range of issues: including fund formation, product structuring, strategic and seed capital arrangements, management company agreements, and all types of governance, regulatory and compliance matters.  

Rich has been ranked for numerous years by Chambers USA as a leading attorney in the hedge funds industry in Massachusetts, U.S., and global business law guides.

Until mid-2026, Richard was a partner for 22 years with the law firm of Bingham McCutchen, which combined with Morgan Lewis & Bockius in 2014.  Rich served as the co-head of Bingham’s Investment Management Group and co-head of Morgan Lewis’ Global Hedge Funds Group.  Rich is currently serving as a Senior Consultant to Morgan Lewis.

From 1997 until 2001, Rich served as the Chief Operating Officer and General Counsel for Kobrick Capital Management, a manager of hedge funds and registered funds.  

Prior to attending law school, Rich worked for three years in the audit group for Arthur Andersen.  

Rich was a lecturer at Boston University’s Morin Center for Banking and Financial Law, teaching a course on hedge funds in the LL.M. program for ten years.

Rich received his BBA in Accounting from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst and his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
